Weekly Wednesday Wallposts Transworld provides

Transworld Snowboarding Website

THESIS: The world’s #1 snowboarding magazine, bringing you all the latest on the hottest news, gear, and trends for the shredtastic world of snowboarding.

5 facts: HOW TO "Wall Ride" PG 143

1. 1. Remember to keep your base flat as long as you can, making sure to do a fully flat based Ollie off the wall at the end.

2. 2. When approaching the wallride, pick your spot on the wall before dropping in, and really setting your line towards that spot as you take off

3. 3. Before attempting the wall ride, make sure your comfortable going straight on to angled wallrides with rock to fakies, frontside 180s backdown, and general flat-basing on the wall.

4. 4. Make sure to suck up your knees as much as possible before getting up to the wall, allowing your base to get fully vertical.

5. 5. Do not over-rotate off your heels from the takeoff. You’re coming up to meet the wall, not falling backwards into it.

Triune Brain: Transworld Snowboarding focus on images first before words. It is a very limbic magazine, with neo-cortexual words to compliment it. All the images and pictures are very big, colorful, and in your face to make sure you pay attention to them. Snowboarding is an extreme action sport, and this magazine does a great job capturing its natural explosiveness.

8 trends: Transworld Snowboarding embraces IMAGE over word. They realize that pictures speak way louder than words, and it is the only appropriate means to quantify this extreme sport. Transworld’s Epistemological shift is a great example for how magazines have managed to survive with the changing times.

7 Principles: When reading a magazine like this, I see common messages that are incorporated throughout it. Along with the amazing pictures, this magazine includes helpful advice with sprinkles of goofy humor everywhere. This really goes along with the general Shredder lifestyle of having the best time of your life, while helping your friends along the way. Any rider reading this immediately feels this valued message, which lets them relate to the content a lot easier.

29 Persuasive Techniques: This magazine uses a variety of persuasive technique to really entice their audience to read it. One great one they do, that I briefly mentioned before, is Humor. Almost every other page will have some kind of comic relief, whether if it’s a funny quote or a silly picture of something. Another great technique they use is Plain Folk. They often have articles with interviews from the riders that show how there just like every other rider. They also give “How To” and rider advice that make it seem like it’s just another one your buddies helping you out.
